Belleisle Golf Course was designed by James Braid, and together with its "little sister" Seafield golf course works its way through the picturesque Belleisle Estate in Ayr. Both courses were opened in 1927, with the longer and more testing Belleisle championship course widely recognised as one of Britain's finest public parkland courses, while Seafield, although slightly shorter, offers it's own unique challenges
Ayr Belleisle Golf Club was first established in 1928 and currently has a senior membership of approximately 200, with junior membership numbering around 25 . We are a fully affiliated member of Scottish Golf and our membership remains open and welcoming to new members.
We operate an extensive all year round competition schedule with our summer competitions, (March – October), played over the championship Belleisle course and the winter competitions (Nov – March) over the smaller Seafield course. Members can play their competition round on either a Wednesday, Saturday or Sunday, with the option to participate in General Play rounds for handicap at any time.
In addition to our weekly fixtures we also operate and host the annual Belleisle Cup and Belleisle Open events. The long standing and prestigious 36 hole Belleisle Cup falls on the 1st Sunday in June, is open to low handicap golfers, and traditionally is the opening event to the Ayr Golf Week. The extremely popular Belleisle Open is an 18 hole competition held towards the end of July, and open to all handicap categories.
The club actively participates in the Ayrshire Golf leagues in both the scratch and handicap sections. These matches while competitive, are fun events and give members the opportunity to play with and meet golfers from clubs across Ayrshire. Social matches against other local clubs and with the ladies and junior sections.are also part of the fixture list.
Our junior section is very active at both club and local level. It consists of a broad age range of mixed ability golfers, is very well organised, and we are proud to have developed a number of excellent golfers who have gone on to win local, national and world events.
