2024 Club Championship Finals

Archibald Walker Trophy - In a repeat of last years final, two of the clubs scratch team members Aidan Long and Jamie Hay went head to head, with Jamie continuing his recent good form by getting his revenge this time by the same 4/3 scoreline as last year.  The club can be very proud of the quality and strength in depth of the scratch players we currently have, not only for their golf skills but for their demeanour on and off the courses.

Daldorch Trophy - In a very close and exciting final for the spectators which went to the last green, Raymond Craig managed to overcome Donald Campbell by the narrowest of margins

Jim Wiseman trophy - was contested by the "veteran" John McBean and the "youngster", our Junior Convenor, Ian Yates, as while this was the seniors final, there was only 20 years difference between the two players.!   In a match played in good spirits the yoiung un, took the trophy by a margin of 5/4

Well done to all club champions, and while the losers will be disappointed, they should be congratulated for reaching the finals as this is a fine achievement in itself.

Annual Team Match Ayr Belleisle GC v Tam O'Shanter GC.

It is with regret that we need to report that in our annual joust with our nearest (and dearest ??) neighbours, the Tam O'Shanter golf club, we lost by 4 matches to 2 thus having to hand them possession of the trophy for the forthcoming year.  There will now be an internal inquest into this debacle, with club captain Richard Innes, who has led the club with distinction up unti now, having some serious questions to answer, including around team selection.  Wasn't a good day all round for Ricky and his partner  ???, as not only did he lose the trophy, but also his own match, thus contributing to the defeat.  Other members of the team should also hang their heads in shame.

Our scratch team players have had a great season, but unfortunately when required, they failed to defeat the golfing equivalents of Shrek and Princess Fiona and Elton John and David Furnish.

The only members who can hold their heads high are Paul McLeish, Simon Comley, ???? who were not confused by the unorthodox swings from their opponents (escapees from the Hansel Village Olympic Team ?), and recorded fine victories.

It will now be up to the incoming captain Stephen MacVean to recover some pride for the club.
